Danang to build high-tech park

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has issued a decision to establish a 1,000ha high-tech park in central Danang city’s Hoa Vang district.

The park is to be regulated to research, develop, transfer and apply high technologies; train human resources, grow enterprises, produce and deal in services related to the area; speed up the application and commercialisation of scientific research results and spur risky investments.

“The establishment of the park aims to lure resources of high technologies from both home and abroad to promote the development of the area,” said Dung.

It also targets to integrate research with production and trading, stimulate technological innovation and the development of the science and technology market.

It would help, he said in the decision, “form and develop some high-tech industries that will significantly contribute to the enhancement of economic efficiency and competitiveness of goods and services in Danang city and the central and Central Highlands regions.”

The Prime Minister stipulated that the park must reserve more than half of its area for facilities that serve science research, technology development and human resource training.

Suitable technical infrastructure with modern communications facilities and convenient working conditions was required, he said.

He also signed a decision to establish the park’s management board, which is directly under the municipal people’s committee.

The municipal people’s committee will be responsible for building general and detailed master plans for the park to submit to the government for approval, organise the assessment of detailed plans and direct construction and investments in the park.
